How a handshake works.

You start it

R79 (incl. VAT). It pays for your check: your ID number and a selfie, about 3 minutes.

Send them an invite

You get the invite once you’re confirmed. They confirm who they are too, and pay for their own check.

See each other’s confirmed name

When you’ve both finished, you each see the other’s name as on their ID, what was checked and when, and a 4-digit match code.

Neither of you sees anything until you’ve both finished. You never see each other’s ID number, birth date or address.

Not checked: their past, references or criminal record, or whether an item, job or offer is real.

You need a South African ID number (smart ID card or green ID book) and must be 18 or older. TRUE can’t check passports yet, and holds no money.
